W. Douglas Kunz, MS, DVM; Medical Director

Dr. Douglas Kunz was born in rural Southeastern Idaho. His summers were spent on the family ranch near Victor, Idaho. It was during those summers that he developed a love of animals and a desire to heal the sick and injured.
Dr. Kunz graduated with a Bachelor of Science in August of 1971 from Brigham Young University. He completed a Master of Science in animal nutrition from that same institution in December of 1973. His DVM was obtained from Colorado State University where he graduated in May of 1977.

Dr. Kunz has practiced small animal medicine and surgery at the Animal Medical Hospital, Inc. in Palm Spring, California for the past 30 years. He was a partner until the sale of the practice to XLNT Veterinary Care, Inc. in September of 2006.
Dr. Kunz was also involved in the founding of Animal Emergency Clinic of the Desert and served as president of the board of directors for over 20 years until its sale to XLNT Veterinary Care, Inc. in January of 2007.

He has always been very involved in his community and currently serves as president of Friends of the Palm Springs Animal Shelter, an organization that supports the shelter and is currently conducting a capital campaign to build a new shelter.
He has served on the California State Board Exam Review Committee and currently serves on the Medical Advisory Board for XLNT Veterinary Care, Inc.
